Airis Sport Inflatable Kayak Review

Inflatable Kayaks

Walker Bay presented its high-pressure Airis inflatable kayaks, which included Play, Sport, Tender, Velocity, Tandem, and the very popular Angler. The manufacturing plant was moved to Mexico, and the Airis kayak line was put on hold, while the production of the popular inflatable boat line increased to speed. The Airis kayak line is back on track with a new design. Thus, the Airis Sport inflatable kayak and its review will tick the boxes for many.

Inflating and deflating.

Airis Sport inflatable kayak is built with three separate rooms. The installation process involves unpacking the kayak, placing it on the ground, and inflating the three chambers. A typical procedure involves inflating the floor followed by both side chambers.

One challenge you might face during your first attempts at arranging this kayak is to keep the floor evenly positioned while inflating the side chambers. Pushing it down with your hands usually does the trick. Depending on your experience with inflatable kayaks, preparing Airis Sport for water should take less than 10 minutes.

The deflation of this kayak is also quite simple. However, we recommend that you first remove any water that may have accumulated in the cabin and allow the kayak to dry completely before deflating and wrapping it.

Portability and storage

One of the reasons I withdrew my hard shells in favor of inflatable kayaks is portability. With the Airis Sport inflatable kayak, you no longer have to worry about installing transport shelves on your SUV. Weighing 20 kilograms, it is easy to carry with the backpack provided. Wearing it to and from the preferred place for kayaking is also easy thanks to the four mounted carrying handles.

The carrying backpack is made of a sturdy fabric that is both durable and easy to maintain. The fact that this kayak is easy to fold and remove in a backpack is an important space saver. It will fit comfortably in the trunk of your car or your closet when not in use.

Stability

The sport features implement a seven-layer polymer-coated fabric that can be inflated to 6.5 PSI. The result is a stable and very light kayak, which is easy to paddle and maneuver. The floor is also quite rigid and is capable of bearing user weights of up to  250 pounds.

Measuring 10 feet, 10 inches long and 31 inches wide, the dimensions of the kayak make it virtually impossible to overturn, even when faced with slightly rough waves. It is also equipped with a skeg that improves the tracking performance of the kayak.

Comfortable to paddle

Airis Sport has a low profile, which means your sitting will be a little higher compared to conventional kayaks. It seemed to be both a good thing and a bad thing. On the plus side, the low profile makes rowing easier, as your arms won’t always rub against the sides of the kayak. However, you may need to get used to it, especially if you haven’t been kayaking for some time.

The cabin has plenty of legroom with attached footpegs for better comfort. A comfortable high back seat is also provided. This makes it easy to paddle for hours without suffering from back fatigue. The seat is also adjustable to accommodate users of different heights.

Storage

The Airis Sport inflatable kayak is equipped with down cables, both on the deck and at the stern. These allow you to secure small items that you would like to bring in you kayak adventures. It doesn’t include a separate storage compartment, so if you have to bring things that need protection against water just put them in a small backpack and carry it while you ride.

Durable design

As we mentioned, the kayak shell is made of a seven-layer polymer-coated fabric. This makes the kayak exterior and abrasion-resistant, prolonging its lifespan.

Accessories and benefits

The Airis Sport inflatable kayak has a hand pump and a carrying case. These two accessories are usually purchased separately for many brands of inflatable kayaks. More included accessories are the adjustable seat, large rear bumper, high-pressure gauge air pump, luxury AirPack backpack, repair kit.

Thus, providing additional accessories make it easier to get paddling as soon as possible. The Airis Sport inflatable kayak offers comfort, quality, and performance all wrapped in a beautifully compact package.

Airis Sport is user-friendly in every way.

  • You can carry it in a large backpack (the backpack is equipped with a kayak);
  • You can inflate it in five minutes;
  • You can take it anywhere because it weighs so little;
  • You can keep it in a closet or in a small space because it takes up very little space;
  • You can paddle until your heart is satisfied because it is so easy and fun to use it.

The Airis Sport inflatable kayak has become our inflatable kayaks of choice. The design is beautifully focused on ease of use and user comfort. The easy-to-build and supplied backpack makes this kayak easy to carry and store. The low profile skeg mounted and the overall size of the kayak makes it quite stable in the water and facilitates tracking.

Thus, if you are looking for a lightweight and easy-to-use inflatable kayak for moderately calm waters, I recommend you try Airis Sport!
