Inflatable Kayaks

Coleman QuikPak K5 Kayak

You can get closer to the water and all the beauty swimming in it when you explore in a Coleman QuikPak K5 Kayak. This inflatable watercraft works just like a traditional kayak, except when you’re ready to pack up, it folds up into its integrated backpack with padded shoulder straps and fits inside any car or truck-and it all sets up within five minutes. Pack food and gear in the zippered storage compartment behind the seat and keep more essentials under the bungee lacing on top. You’ll easily carry the kayak over shallow water and in and out of the water with the bow and stern handles. The rigid floor, flat bottom and three-chamber design keep the boat’s solid shape on the water and offer added security if you get snagged.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • The Coleman QuikPak K5 Kayak offers a high level of stability on the water.
  • You can rock it back and forth as hard as you can and the edge still won’t go below the water level.
  • Assemble and breakdown are very painless and don’t require a large anount of time which is important, especially when you are with a group and want to progress quickly.

Cons:

  • The paddless are not up to par with the level of the Coleman QuikPak K5 Kayak.
  • They could use with including a set that is a little more upgraded and adjustabe.
  • It is recommended that you purchase paddles seperately. The pump can be a little tricky for as far as manual pumps go. An electric pump is always better when you are airing up a kayak.
Conclusion

The Coleman QuikPak K5 Inflatable by Sevylor scores very highly indeed. It’s the ultimate in portability, ease of assembly and I’d happily crown it king of the inflatables, for one person at least. However, as usual, manufacturers have not learnt that shipping a top quality product with sub standard accessories is going to affect customer satisfaction, especially when the price of the kayak has seen a considerable hike from it’s competitors. If you can look past the poor oars, and see the true brilliance of a kayak that compresses into a rucksack, you’re in for a real treat here. For the complete novice however, the price is enough to put you off, and a cheaper kayak from someone like Intex may be more suited to your particular needs.
