Eddyline Sitka LT Sea Kayak Review

Sea And Touring Kayaks

The Eddyline Sitka LT Sea Kayak is a lightweight, high-performance, daytime touring kayak designed to fit the paddler with a medium or large frame. It is perfect for any type of rowing and is ready for a saltwater adventure or a lazy afternoon at the lake.

The Sitka LT 14’6 “kayak is a fully equipped navigable kayak, which comes equipped with perimeter lines, watertight walls, arch and stern hatches, a small day hatch, retractable carrying handles, deck bungees, and an Infinity Seat system with a backrest (standard) or rear band (optional). Sitka LT Sea Kayak is also equipped with an adjustable skeg, which serves as an excellent tool for wind management and for a wider range of body performances.

It is a pleasant kayak for beginners / intermediate rowers or excellent as an additional boat for advanced rowers to be used for some light rides and/or if you do not want to take risks with an expensive/fragile carbon/composite boat.

Eddyline Sitka family

The new Eddyline Sitka family of kayaks consists of Sitka ST, Sitka LT, and Sitka XT. All of these touring models are equipped with Eddyline’s Infinity seat with backrest, skeg, and full touring features such as perimeter lines, day hatch (LT / XT), and Fore hatch (LT / XT). The new Eddyline Sitka LT Sea Kayak has a length of 14’6 ″, with a beam of 23.5 ″. The boat is wonderfully balanced in all conditions. The new size of the cabin gives you a more generous fit than Samba (now Sitka ST) and Fathom LV.

Maneuverability

If you’re used to larger boats, the Eddyline Sitka LT Sea kayak will feel “a little hectic” at first. But don’t let this disappoint you, as with any new boat, you need to take some time to find out how it reacts to the water. In our case, it felt completely at home and safe on the Eddyline Sitka LT Sea Kayak after only a few hours of rowing.

You can easily take it out into big rivers and lakes but at the same time, it can also be a boat worthy of the sea. Sitka LT hasn’t disappointed us yet!

More so, with a slight edge, the boat has an excellent turning radius. You should have no problem maneuvering and weave through the trees in the water you are paddling in. It also feels like a fast boat for its category. Compared to other thermoformed kayaks we have paddled recently, this boat glides effortlessly through the water and can be brought to speed easily.

Following this boat is also excellent. Establish the point where you want to go and go there! You can also paddle in windy conditions, where you will find the adjustable skeg to be a useful component. Speaking of the skeg, we like how Eddyline incorporates their skeg control. It is a metal rod placed inside a rectangle embedded in the side. Sliding it all the way in, it moves the chip completely. Partial sliding down allows you to cover the bag.

Construction

Carbonlite 2000 brings plastic kayak technology to a whole new level of performance. Eddyline was the pioneer of this technology, and Carbonlite 2000 is exclusively Eddyline. This material is extremely hard, but it is easy to repair even in case of an accident. It has withstood the test of time in the hands of many paddlers, liveries, and tour operators and is very suitable for almost all kayaking applications. Carbonlite 2000 is 100% recyclable (as are the bulkheads, cockpit, and seat), all plastic waste is recycled and virtually no waste is generated.

Eddyline Sitka LT incorporates a day hatch located at the front of the cab. It’s a little small compared to a Delta front hatch, but it’s more than enough space for your keys, wallet, phone, a few granola bars, and yet with some free more space for small items.

We don’t know if this was intentional or not, but the day hatch has a smooth surface with no logo on it. This makes it the perfect place for a GoPro suction cup holder. You can even rotate the camera by turning the day hatch left and right.
